Spotlight on Gerbert d'Aurillac primary school
d'Aurillac, Montessori and bilingual primary school

Presentation of the school

The school Gerbert d’Aurillac opened its doors in September 2021. It is an associative, bilingual and Montessori primary school. It occupies a renovated building surrounded by a green area and a vegetable garden in Boulogne Billancourt.

It offers workshops in art, music, gardening and faith education for those who wish, and is part of a global approach to environmental education and sustainable development.

Thanks to a fee structure based on income, it allows a wide range of families to benefit from quality teaching based on a method that is now recognised as promoting autonomy, self-confidence and respect for others.

The companies of Groupe Baelen support this project through corporate philanthropy, in line with the purpose of Growing together.

Green Sanctuaries

Presentation of Green Sanctuaries

Green Sanctuaries provides long-term protection for the world's exceptional forests, passing them on to future generations. With the support of its scientific committee, Green Sanctuaries identifies forests with high biodiversity that are directly threatened, and secures them by buying them or contracting long-term leases.

These forests are then monitored, studied by local and international scientists and opened up to children to inspire wonder.
Finally, Green Sanctuaries promotes models of coexistence between humans and forests, by supporting local indigenous communities and encouraging other riverside communities to adopt models that are more respectful of living things.

The Baelen Group and all its companies are actively involved in supporting Green Sanctuaries.

Presentation de World Vision

World Vision France is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working for the protection and well-being of vulnerable children around the world. As part of the international World Vision network, present in nearly 100 countries, it works both in humanitarian emergencies and on long-term development projects through child sponsorship. The organisation is committed to sustainable transformation, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and plays a key role in the fight against inequality and the promotion of children's rights on a global scale. World Vision France's approach is based on a global vision, taking into account not only the vital needs of children, but also the social and economic dynamics of local populations.

Extreme climatic phenomena are becoming increasingly frequent, with dramatic consequences for the lives of the poorest people. Soil degradation is one of the most pressing environmental problems. It is both a symptom and a cause of climate change.

It exacerbates the poverty of the most vulnerable communities. Incredibly, much of the world's degraded land contains invisible forests. Complex root systems hidden underground that have the potential to regenerate rapidly, repair the environment and help slow climate change.

World Vision is actively working to bring these invisible forests back to life using a method that is as simple as it is effective: assisted natural regeneration (ANR). ANR regenerates entire forests at an accelerated rate. It involves regrowing trees from stumps that have a living root system, thanks to rigorous pruning and protection. Combined with other land restoration techniques, it is far more effective than tree planting, and works in some of the world's harshest climates. ANR helps to combat desertification and famine. This simple method allows reforestation without planting trees.

The Baelen Group and all its companies are actively involved in supporting World Vision France, and more specifically in the fight against climate change through the ANR method.
